The movie begins with the narrator stating,”This is a story of boy meets girl. The boy, Tom Hansen, grew up believing that he’d never truly be happy until the day he met the one. The girl, Summer Finn, did not share this belief. You should know up front this is not a love story”.
I loved this movie. I really did. Maybe it is because it looked at the relationship from the guy’s point of view, maybe because the movie didn’t end the way the movies, television shows and books always do, but really, I liked it because it actually gave me a new perspective and view on love and relationships. Watch it. The movie was cute but honest – something the media doesn’t give us very often anymore. Instead of being all elated leaving the movie, I seriously wanted to punch Zoey Deschanel in the face.
The soundtrack for this movie is amazing. The music wasn’t just something to fill the scenes with, they really contributed and enhanced the story. One of my favorite songs from the movie is from the Australian band, The Temper Trap. (I just got their album and some of their other songs are really solid too!)
Check this movie out when you have time!
I will leave you with this…
Tom: Ok but wait–wait. What happens, if you fall in love?
Summer: You don’t believe that, do you?
Tom: It’s love, it’s not Santa Claus.
